LIMA, Jan 29 (NNN-ANDINA) -- For the 17th time, Peru will participate in Fruit Logistica, the world's largest trade show for fruits and vegetables taking place on Feb 6-8 in Berlin (Germany), the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) informed Monday.

The Inca country's delegation —composed of around 290 entrepreneurs— is expected to close business deals worth approximately US$230 million that will be consolidated in the next 12 months.

Likewise, Peru will showcase diverse products such as grapes, asparagus, pomegranates, sweet granadillas, passion fruits, organic bananas, mangoes, and blueberries, among others. There is a particular interest in selling gingers, avocados, cherimoyas, and lemons overseas.

The Inca nation's participation is promoted by the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur), PromPeru, the Peruvian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It also relies on the support provided by Peru's Trade Offices (Ocex) based in Germany, the Peruvian Embassy in Germany, and Association of Peruvian Farming Producers (Agap).

Last year, the fair welcomed 3,077 exhibitors from 84 countries, who received over 76,000 professional visitors from 130 nations.

Furthermore, Peru will start a new phase in the exportable food supply promotion strategy by showcasing its offer with sectoral brands and gastronomy.

Partnerships with international food brands and retail sector leaders will also be established in order to reach diverse markets and final consumers.

Within this framework, the Inca country will present a book aimed at highlighting the position of Peruvian gastronomy around the world.

It should be noted agro-exports to the European Union totaled US$2.263 billion between January and November 2018, thus increasing 15% over the same period the previous year.

In addition, Germany is one of the top five destinations, along with Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, and the United Kingdom. -- NNN-ANDINA
